How Big Should Your Dreams Be?

June 7, 2015 by Paul 1 Comment

I love going to personal development events and learning from mentors who have achieved a lot of great things in their lives.

One of my favorite lessons that I learned in the last few years at a live event has to do with the size of our dreams.

Prior to going to this event I was always a bit unsure and confused as to what it meant to have a dream, versus a goal, versus a target etc.

I always kind of used these words interchangeably but didn’t really know how they related to each other.

I also didn’t know if I was supposed to make my dreams “realistic” or really, really big, and how all of that related to goals.

What I learned at this event was life changing for me.

What I learned is that the most powerful dreams are BIG dreams that might even take you multiple lifetimes to complete.

In other words, they do NOT have to be “realistic” at all, and in fact the bigger they are the more powerful they are.

What I learned is that most people confused goals and dreams, and because of that their dreams are always too small.

They set small, believable, and very achievable dreams, because they think that this is the best way to go about it.

GOALS should be believable and achievable usually within a 5 year time period, or maybe a bit longer, but DREAMS should be something that inspires you and it makes on difference if you even achieve them in this lifetime.

For example, when you think about people like Steve Jobs, or Elon Musk, or Bill Gates, these people think BIG.

Their DREAMS are so big that they will outlive them – as is the current case with Steve Jobs!

What I learned is that if we set HUGE dreams, not only will they inspire us to take action and be more excited than small dreams, I also learned that if your dreams are REALLY big, they take on a sort of “gravity” field of their own where they actually PULL you towards them.

In other words, let’s say we take Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Space X, his dreams are massive.

He dreams of a world where gasoline cars are replaced with electric vehicles, and where we capture and store and use electricity directly from the sun.

And those are just some of his dreams that he plans on achieving in the SHORT TERM – LOL!

Can you imagine what his dreams are long term?

Now if you think about the size of his dreams, and how awesome they are, you’ll start to see that when he imagines such a thing in his imagination, a LOT of people (including me) join in and we ALSO want to see a world with such things in it.

I think it would be awesome if we could generate all our power from the sun, and store it in batteries and if cars ran on this electricity we captured from the sun.

So because his dream is so big, it starts to take on a “gravity” of it’s own where other people around the world start to buy into the dream as well.

Now, your dream doesn’t have to be that big or something that changes the world in such a big way.

Your dream might simply be to be an amazing artist, or to create a chain or restaurants that cooks food in some kind of unique way.

Or your dream might be to completely revolutionize the education system.

Your dream is YOUR dream.  You don’t have to compare it other people’s dreams.

However, what I would encourage you to do is to DREAM BIG.

The reason why is because if you dream BIG, your dreams will actually start to pull you towards them.

The Universe will begin to “move mountains” to help you achieve your dreams.

People, resources, and opportunities will present themselves at the right time and all you have to do is take advantage of them.

If you dream small, however, you won’t be fully activating the magnificent power of the Universe to help you achieve those dreams.

Even if your current dream is very small, just make it a little bit bigger.

For example, if you’re an artist and your current dream is to just sell your first piece of art work professionally, than maybe you can make that dream a little bit bigger by dreaming of having an art gallery showcasing a whole bunch of your work and selling 10 or 50 of your pieces in one spectacular night.

Or if your dream is to simply make enough money to get out of debt so that you can feel a bit more financially secure, maybe increase your dream to becoming debt free and also manifesting an extra $50,000 in a bank account that you can use for emergencies.

Whatever your dream is, just make it a little bit bigger.  And once you do that, the next day make it a little bit bigger again, and the next day and so on.

How I Saved 384 Hours and 58 With This One Trick

June 6, 2015 by Paul 4 Comments

I’m a huge training videos junkie.

I love watching training videos of all kinds.

Being part of Empower Network definitely keeps me busy with a tonne of amazing training content related to Blogging and Internet Marketing.

One question I often get asked by people is “Paul, how do you find the time to watch all this training!?”

Well, I have one little secret weapon.

It’s called Enounce MySpeed.

Enounce MySpeed is a small utility that you install on your computer which allows you to speed up the speed at which you watch your videos.

You see, the human brain can usually process audio information at about 1.5x – 3.0x the speed that it can speak it.

This means that when you’re listening to an average person speaking, your brain is basically only working at about 25-30% of the speed that it can for processing what it is hearing.

Which also means that you can SPEED UP the speed at which someone is speaking by 10% – 100% or maybe even more and still comprehend EVERYTHING perfectly, as long as you’re paying attention.

Enounce MySpeed is a utility that I use which allows you to do just that.

It allows me to watch a 60 minute video in about 30-35mins.

If you look at the screenshot above you can see that the utility has already saved me over 384 HOUR of time!

That’s almost 10 weeks of working at a 40 hour/week full time job!

Isn’t that crazy?

What’s really cool about Enounce MySpeed is that it allows you to watch streaming videos, such as the ones from YouTube or other streaming services at faster speeds without the voices on those videos sounding like the chipmunks!

When you first start using the utility you may only be able to speed up your videos by about 10% – 20% before you start to miss things, but over time you can condition your mind to hear at 1.5x – 2.0x or even higher speeds.

I’ve been using this software for a while and 2.0x speeds are super easy for me.

When I started, I would usually listen at 1.5x regular speed.

Try it out yourself.

You can get a free trial of Enounce MySpeed by clicking here.

I highly recommend it!

TabletopGamer.com Re-Launched

June 4, 2015 by Paul Leave a Comment

Today I decided to re-launch one of my old blogs called TabletopGamer.com.

TabletopGamer.com is a blog I launched back in 2011 and it was focused strictly on the hobby of tabletop gaming and building and painting tabletop miniatures.

When I launched FreeYouNow.com at the beginning of this year, I had decided to merge all of my previous blogs and websites into one domain / blog so that I could focus on building just one site.

I found that pretty much all of the topics I blog about, such as entrepreneurship, blogging, Internet marketing, making money online, working from home, health and fitness, law of attraction and spirituality – they are all somewhat interrelated and many of my readers are interested in most if not all of those topics as well.

The only blog topic / category that didn’t really fit in with all of these is my hobby of tabletop gaming / painting miniatures.

It’s a very specialized hobby that people are either into or they’re not.

If someone is not into it, there is very little value for them to gain from reading blog posts or watching videos about the hobby.

So for a while now I’ve been thinking about separating out this category of blog posts into another more specialized niche blog.

With the recent launch of Kalatu Premium, and our ability to have up to 10 blogs at no extra cost, I decided to launch a niche blog in the tabletop gaming category.

So this evening I setup my new blog, and I moved over all of my previous posts to the new site.

I’m still working on getting it setup, and fine-tuning my design, but I’m really exited about having a niche blog dedicated to my hobby.

If you’d like to check it out, you can find the site by clicking here: TabletopGamer.com

Why Isn’t Everyone Doing It?

June 3, 2015 by Paul 2 Comments

Over the years as I’ve built various businesses and had conversations with people about different business models and opportunities out there, I’ve learned that a LOT of people have a very skeptical perspective on entrepreneurship.

When taking a look at a business opportunity of any kind really, most people compare what they think they know about that opportunity to their current method of making money (usually a job) and they end up having one of two perspectives:

Either (A) they look at the business opportunity in front of them and the income potential and other benefits of building that kind of business simply aren’t enough to entice them away from their job…

OR (B) they look at the opportunity and the benefits and income potential is very enticing but then they think to themselves “Well it’s can’t be real…if this thing is real then why isn’t everyone doing it?”

In other words, their mind creates an excuse either way.

If the financial opportunity in the business is not enticing enough, then they don’t want to do it because it’s not worth it…

… but if the financial opportunity in the business IS enticing enough, then they don’t want to do it because it seems too good to be true because if it wasn’t then why wouldn’t everyone be doing it?

It is this kind of cyclical logic that essentially guarantees that ANY business opportunity (legitimate or not) is discarded.

In this post I want to address this question of “Why isn’t everyone doing it?” when referencing opportunities that have a huge potential financial incentive to those who pursue and succeed at them.

For example, in Empower Network we have more than a dozen people who have already made over 1 million dollars with the Empower Network affiliate program.

Now, their results are NOT typical and definitely not guaranteed (see www.empowernetwork.com/income for average earnings), however their results are still very exciting and since they were able to do it, it is possible that others might be able to do it as well.

So when you have an opportunity like this where some people are succeeding and demonstrating the incredible income opportunity, skeptical people instantly think to themselves “It can’t be true, otherwise why isn’t everyone doing it?”

Well, here’s the truth.

The reason why EVERYONE is not doing it is because entrepreneurship requires perseverance.

As soon as you engage in ANY kind of business of you own, you will encounter some sort of situation or challenge that you’ll have to overcome.

Entrepreneurship is NEVER a straight, perfect line from point A to point B.

In fact, chances are that you’ll encounter THOUSANDS of small obstacles along the way that you’ll have to overcome.

In most cases if you’re following the right system, these obstacles will not be THAT big or THAT challenging, but they WILL show up.

For example, in one of the businesses that I run we were expanding into a larger office space and one of the things we had to do is to get our inspection permits from the city.

While trying to get those permits approved we ran into a situation.

Apparently, one of the stickers on our front door which displayed our unit number was a few millimeters too small.

Meaning the city has some rule that the letters must be like 3 inches tall and our letters were 2.9 inches tall.

As you can imagine this was NOT something that was difficult to fix.

It was just something that popped up, and we deal with it and then it wasn’t an issue anymore and we got the permits and kept moving forward.

Now you might be thinking that this example seems very trivial right?

Like really?  Lettering is a tiny bit too small?  We got it fixed very easily.

HOWEVER, you wouldn’t believe how many people I have seen who try to become entrepreneurs and who let very small, trivial challenges like this one completely throw them out of the game.

They start a business, and they run into ONE tiny little challenge that they don’t know how to overcome instantly, and BOOM they’re throwing in the towel.

Entrepreneurship is about being able to handle all those small, but usually frequent challenges.

In fact, most likely, every single day you’ll have something pop up that you’ll have to deal with.

Usually these issues and challenges will NOT be a big deal if your attitude is right and you approach the situation with a solution minded perspective.

However, if you approach entrepreneurship with an attitude of “Oh I bet this will never work.” then ANY of these small excuses will stop you dead in your tracks.

So the answer to the question of “Why isn’t everyone doing this?” is simply this…

Entrepreneurs are people who solve 1,000 small challenges in 1,000 days and keep moving forward towards their dreams, and most employee minded people have this false impression that entrepreneurship is only worth it if there are no challenges ever, and the minute they encounter one small challenge, they just give up and go back to their jobs.

Now here’s the interesting thing…

…because a lot of non-entrepreneurial people might think to themselves “Yeah, but why would I even want to be an entrepreneur if I’ll have to deal with 1,000 small challenges in 1,000 days???”

…  and you know what the answer to that is?

Well, do you know who else has to deal with 1,000+ small challenges in 1,000 days?

Employees!

If you work at a job right now, don’t small challenges come up pretty much every day in your life, and you are forced to deal with them?

Of course they do!

So how come when it comes to jobs, people are resilient and they don’t quit just because there was a challenge that came up at work?

The reason is because people don’t look at their jobs as “Oh I’ll try this out but I bet it won’t work…”

Most people see their jobs as something they HAVE to do.  It’s something they MUST do.  They don’t think they have a choice.

So dealing with the various challenges that happen day-in and day-out is just something they get used to and they just get through it.

But when it comes to starting a business, most people only keep moving forward for as long as everything is going 100% perfectly according to plan…

… but the minute some kind of challenge comes up, no matter how small and insignificant they throw their hands up in the air and declare “Oh I knew this wouldn’t work!” and they quit!

And *THAT* is why even if an opportunity is amazing, everyone is not doing it.

The majority of people have been conditioned to work for someone else, at a job, and they’ve been taught that entrepreneurship is risky and difficult.

And so they don’t even give it a proper chance.

They give up on their business, their opportunity and their dreams at the very first challenge they encounter.

I know I’ve done it in the past. 🙂

How about you?
