Why Isn’t Everyone Doing It?

June 3, 2015 by Paul 2 Comments

Over the years as I’ve built various businesses and had conversations with people about different business models and opportunities out there, I’ve learned that a LOT of people have a very skeptical perspective on entrepreneurship.

When taking a look at a business opportunity of any kind really, most people compare what they think they know about that opportunity to their current method of making money (usually a job) and they end up having one of two perspectives:

Either (A) they look at the business opportunity in front of them and the income potential and other benefits of building that kind of business simply aren’t enough to entice them away from their job…

OR (B) they look at the opportunity and the benefits and income potential is very enticing but then they think to themselves “Well it’s can’t be real…if this thing is real then why isn’t everyone doing it?”

In other words, their mind creates an excuse either way.

If the financial opportunity in the business is not enticing enough, then they don’t want to do it because it’s not worth it…

… but if the financial opportunity in the business IS enticing enough, then they don’t want to do it because it seems too good to be true because if it wasn’t then why wouldn’t everyone be doing it?

It is this kind of cyclical logic that essentially guarantees that ANY business opportunity (legitimate or not) is discarded.

In this post I want to address this question of “Why isn’t everyone doing it?” when referencing opportunities that have a huge potential financial incentive to those who pursue and succeed at them.

For example, in Empower Network we have more than a dozen people who have already made over 1 million dollars with the Empower Network affiliate program.

Now, their results are NOT typical and definitely not guaranteed (see www.empowernetwork.com/income for average earnings), however their results are still very exciting and since they were able to do it, it is possible that others might be able to do it as well.

So when you have an opportunity like this where some people are succeeding and demonstrating the incredible income opportunity, skeptical people instantly think to themselves “It can’t be true, otherwise why isn’t everyone doing it?”

Well, here’s the truth.

The reason why EVERYONE is not doing it is because entrepreneurship requires perseverance.

As soon as you engage in ANY kind of business of you own, you will encounter some sort of situation or challenge that you’ll have to overcome.

Entrepreneurship is NEVER a straight, perfect line from point A to point B.

In fact, chances are that you’ll encounter THOUSANDS of small obstacles along the way that you’ll have to overcome.

In most cases if you’re following the right system, these obstacles will not be THAT big or THAT challenging, but they WILL show up.

For example, in one of the businesses that I run we were expanding into a larger office space and one of the things we had to do is to get our inspection permits from the city.

While trying to get those permits approved we ran into a situation.

Apparently, one of the stickers on our front door which displayed our unit number was a few millimeters too small.

Meaning the city has some rule that the letters must be like 3 inches tall and our letters were 2.9 inches tall.

As you can imagine this was NOT something that was difficult to fix.

It was just something that popped up, and we deal with it and then it wasn’t an issue anymore and we got the permits and kept moving forward.

Now you might be thinking that this example seems very trivial right?

Like really?  Lettering is a tiny bit too small?  We got it fixed very easily.

HOWEVER, you wouldn’t believe how many people I have seen who try to become entrepreneurs and who let very small, trivial challenges like this one completely throw them out of the game.

They start a business, and they run into ONE tiny little challenge that they don’t know how to overcome instantly, and BOOM they’re throwing in the towel.

Entrepreneurship is about being able to handle all those small, but usually frequent challenges.

In fact, most likely, every single day you’ll have something pop up that you’ll have to deal with.

Usually these issues and challenges will NOT be a big deal if your attitude is right and you approach the situation with a solution minded perspective.

However, if you approach entrepreneurship with an attitude of “Oh I bet this will never work.” then ANY of these small excuses will stop you dead in your tracks.

So the answer to the question of “Why isn’t everyone doing this?” is simply this…

Entrepreneurs are people who solve 1,000 small challenges in 1,000 days and keep moving forward towards their dreams, and most employee minded people have this false impression that entrepreneurship is only worth it if there are no challenges ever, and the minute they encounter one small challenge, they just give up and go back to their jobs.

Now here’s the interesting thing…

…because a lot of non-entrepreneurial people might think to themselves “Yeah, but why would I even want to be an entrepreneur if I’ll have to deal with 1,000 small challenges in 1,000 days???”

…  and you know what the answer to that is?

Well, do you know who else has to deal with 1,000+ small challenges in 1,000 days?

Employees!

If you work at a job right now, don’t small challenges come up pretty much every day in your life, and you are forced to deal with them?

Of course they do!

So how come when it comes to jobs, people are resilient and they don’t quit just because there was a challenge that came up at work?

The reason is because people don’t look at their jobs as “Oh I’ll try this out but I bet it won’t work…”

Most people see their jobs as something they HAVE to do.  It’s something they MUST do.  They don’t think they have a choice.

So dealing with the various challenges that happen day-in and day-out is just something they get used to and they just get through it.

But when it comes to starting a business, most people only keep moving forward for as long as everything is going 100% perfectly according to plan…

… but the minute some kind of challenge comes up, no matter how small and insignificant they throw their hands up in the air and declare “Oh I knew this wouldn’t work!” and they quit!

And *THAT* is why even if an opportunity is amazing, everyone is not doing it.

The majority of people have been conditioned to work for someone else, at a job, and they’ve been taught that entrepreneurship is risky and difficult.

And so they don’t even give it a proper chance.

They give up on their business, their opportunity and their dreams at the very first challenge they encounter.

I know I’ve done it in the past. 🙂

How about you?

Use This One Ninja Tactic and Sell Anything to Anyone

May 29, 2015 by Paul Leave a Comment

Want to know a secret Ninja tactic that will turn you into a sales superhero and allow you to sell anything to anyone?

Okay, I’ll spill my guts.

It’s very Ninja, but you deserve to know this ancient secret.

There’s a switch inside your head.

Yes, inside your head.

And if you flip this switch, you’ll have this superpower to sell anything to anyone.

So how do you flip this switch?

Well it’s basically all about correcting a misconception about human beings that we, as a society, have secretly all agreed to lie about.

Wait what?

Okay, let me explain.

Here’s the lie – “Human beings are rational.”

That’s a lie.

Human beings are actually NOT rational. We are EMOTIONAL creatures who make emotional decisions, and then justify them with rational logic so that we can keep pretending that we make rational decisions.

Now I know what you’re thinking…you’re probably thinking “Bullshit!  I’m rational!”

We defend our rationality (is that even a word?) because the rules of society tell us that being rational is GOOD and being irrational is BAD.

The truth is, however, that we are not rational and we don’t make rational decisions…

… so if you want to learn how to sell something to someone, you need to STOP focusing all of your energy on what the rational reasons would be for a person to buy your product or service.

Let me give you an example…

Let’s say that your job was to sell some dog food.

How would you sell it?

For example, what if you were put in charge of making a video commercial for a dog food company to sell their dog food – and more specifically a certain brand of puppy food.

If that switch was not flipped in your head, and you were still convinced that people make rational decisions, you might ask the dog company to provide you with a list of features and benefits of the puppy food.

And after some painstaking research you might create a commercial which tries to communicate the following RATIONAL benefits of buying that brand of puppy food:

  • This food’s first ingredient is chicken, not chicken byproducts
  • This food is all natural, and contains no chemicals or preservatives
  • This food will help your dog have a shiny coat
  • This food has glucosamine which can help to keep your dogs joints healthy
  • etc.

After creating such a commercial, which includes all kinds of rational reasons to buy this food over another brand of food, your commercial MAY sell some dog food, but probably not a lot of it.

Why?  Because your video will have spoken to the viewer’s intellect, and their rational thinking center, but it wouldn’t have connected with their emotions.

But what if you took a totally different approach?

What if you could create a commercial which communicates the emotions of love and joy associated with owning a puppy, and said absolutely NOTHING about the rational features and benefits of the product itself?

In fact, what if the only thing you said about the product was it’s name?

And what if you were able to associate that dog food and it’s name with those emotions of love and joy that new puppy owners have?

Do you think that could sell some dog food?

Well… you be the judge of that.  Check out this commercial and tell me what you think about it?

You may not realize it, but commercials like this are specifically designed to connect with our emotional centers, not our rational centers because the advertising industry has long known that human beings are EMOTIONAL decision makers, who rationalize their emotional decisions with reason.

But hey….shhhhh… don’t tell anyone, because as a society we’re all under this illusion where we pretend that we’re rational, and you wouldn’t want to burst anyone’s bubble!

What did you think about this video?

If you got your first puppy and you knew NOTHING about any brands of dog food, do you think that you’d be more inclined to choose this brand of dog food for your puppy?

Blogging to Generate Leads for a Network Marketing Business

May 28, 2015 by Paul Leave a Comment

Are you struggling to generate leads for your network marketing business?

Wondering if blogging can help?

There are many different was to generate, or even buy leads for a network marketing business, but using a blog can be more effective than almost any other method of generating leads.

Here are a few reasons why…

Blogging Builds Rapport and Trust With Your Network Marketing Leads

There’s no shortage of lead companies out there trying to sell leads, or lead generation strategies that promise to deliver leads for your network marketing business.

However, the main challenge with buying leads or even generating them using various different methods outside of blogging is that those leads are essentially cold and you have absolutely no rapport with them.

The beauty of using blogging as a strategy for generating leads is that you get to build rapport and warm up your leads before you ever pitch them or try to sell them anything.

For example, let’s say that you are part of an MLM company that sells weight loss products and exercise programs.

Well, imagine if you wrote a blog post which shared 10 tips for relieving muscle cramping after working out.

Now imagine that someone out there was having muscle cramps after working out and they went on Google and searched for a solution and came across your blog.

Now imagine that this person read your article and used your tips to relieve the muscle cramping pain in their muscles.

Guess what?  You have now built a little bit of rapport with that person, without ever talking to them.  Your blog did it on your behalf!

This person might now feel like they trust you as someone who is at least partially an authority on working out and being fit.

Now, if this person sees a banner on your site or even reads other blog posts that you’ve written where you recommend a weight loss product or a fitness program that your company sells, that person will be MUCH more likely to be inclined to trust your recommendation than if they were just a cold lead who didn’t even know who you are.

In this way, your blog essentially acts as a silent sales person that never sleeps and constantly builds small one-on-one relationships with your readers.

Over time your readers begin to trust you more, like you more and they want to be around your energy.

So then if once in a while you email them or write a blog post promoting a product that your network marketing company sells, the likely hood of them being interested in buying that product is going to be much higher now that they know you a bit more, trust you a bit more and no longer see you as just a sales guy trying to sell them something.

Blogging Can Generate Leads Virtually For Free

Another great benefit to blogging as a method of generating leads for your network marketing business is that by blogging you can generate leads virtually for free.

As you begin to create blog content and you use a search engine optimized blogging platform like Kalatu, your blog posts will begin to start ranking in the search engines.

Search engines like Google have the ability to send you an incredible amount of free traffic, provided that your website is properly optimized for search engine rankings and your content is valuable to your readers.

If you write blog posts which focus on helping people to solve various problems they encounter in life, related to the products or services your network marketing company sells, you begin to develop a loyal following of readers.

As you do that, you’ll start to attract more and more loyal fans and those fans can then be turned into highly qualified, warm leads for your network marketing business.

And the beauty of this is that you can generate these leads very inexpensively, virtually for free, without having to buy leads at premium prices.

Blogging Can Help You Get More Familiar With Your Products

Another great benefit about blogging is that it can force you to learn about your network marketing company’s products in much more depth so that you can blog about them.

They say that if you really want to learn something, then teach it.

Well, blogging is very similar to that.

When you sit down to write about a product that your company has, you may find yourself doing a little bit more research to understand your products just a little bit more than you did before.

This is just something that we naturally tend to do as human beings, and this can be a great advantage to you.

Want to learn about a specific product or line of products your company is promoting?  Make a commitment to write a blog post or even a blog series related to that product.

You’ll see that you end up learning something new about that product or line of products so that you can blog about them.

Blogging Can Be a Fun Way to Generate Leads Especially for Introverted People

One of the best things about using blogging to generate leads for your network marketing company is that blogging is very introvert-friendly.

Yes there are other ways of going out there and finding people to prospect for your network marketing company, but chances are that if you’re an introverted person, all of those methods aren’t a lot of fun for you.

Going out there and prospecting people at shopping malls, grocery stores, elevators or just by walking around and talking to strangers may seem like a lot of fun for extroverted people, but for an introvert that’s just not going to work.

Blogging as a method of generating leads is WAY more fun for introverts.

We get to blog about our passions, and use our blogs to generate leads for our businesses, without ever having to leave the comfort of our home!

Here’s an example from just one of my network marketing funnels.

This month alone I’ve generated 778 visitors to my funnel, which resulted in 34 leads for my network marketing business and 11 sales.

I would much rather generate leads like these online using my blog, than to drive around town walking around shopping malls trying to talk to 778 people, hoping to get 34 phone numbers and 11 sales.

Wouldn’t you?

How to Get Started With Blogging to Generate Leads

Generating leads from blogging does require some skill and an understanding of how to do it properly.

You can’t just start a random blog and start blogging about what you ate for breakfast this morning and expect for highly targeted network marketing leads to somehow start popping out from a blog like that.

You need to be properly trained and you need the proper tools if you’re going to want to generate leads with your blog.

The absolutely best training I have ever seen specifically for learning how to generate leads by blogging and various other online methods comes from a company called the Empower Network.

I’ve been a member of Empower Network for over a year now and I highly recommend their training and blogging tools.
