How to Reply to an Email With Video

March 31, 2015 by Paul Leave a Comment

Recently I’ve started to use videos when replying to certain types of emails that I get from people.

For example, when someone emails me or even sends me a message on Skype or Facebook chat, asking me a question about something I have been finding that a lot of times it’s easier to just shoot a short video answering their question than it is to write out a long email.

This is especially true in regards to answering an email question where a screenshot video would be best to use.

The challenge in the past has been that making a screenshot video was time consuming and clunky, but there is a software out now called Jing that allows you make this process very simple.

It’s actually not a new software, I first heard of it way back in 2008, but it has gone through a lot of improvements lately that make it way easier to use.

Here’s a brief introduction to it:

The software now allows you to shoot up to a 5 minute video and upload  / host it on their servers and the to easily share that video with someone via email or by sending them a link via chat.

I’ve now started using this a way to communicate with people much more easily that typing out long emails.

You can also shoot short video clips using your webcam software and attach those to your email as well, or upload a quick video to YouTube and then send someone the link.

I’ve found this WAY more effective at communicating the message than sending a longer email which most people kind of skim through and end up missing certain key points.

The cool thing too is that Jing is a free software ( click here to get it ) and so is YouTube, so you can either use Jing to do a screen capture of your computer screen or shoot a quick webcam video and upload it to YouTube and then email someone a link to watch the video where you answer the email questions on video.

I have actually found this to be faster than typing out an email, and people LOVE the engagement they get from a video rather than just TEXT.

Try it out if you haven’t already. 🙂

Archetype Quiz – How to Know Your Archetypes

March 30, 2015 by Paul Leave a Comment

A few day ago I saw a post on Facebook by my sister-in-law Jodi talking about archetypes.

She linked to a couple of websites and clicking around on them I eventually made my way to a website which allows you to take an “Archetype Quiz” which identifies your 3 primary archetypes.

Here are the results of my quiz:

According to this quiz I am 50% Visionary, 29% Intellectual and 21% Spiritual.

Once I read through the descriptions of the 3 primary archetypes that it identified for me, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to see how accurate this is.

Once you take the quiz, they break things down into 12 Archetypes and they show you your 3 strongest ones.

The 12 Archetypes are:

  1. Visionary
  2. Intellectual
  3. Spiritual
  4. Creative
  5. Athlete
  6. Rebel
  7. Caregiver
  8. Royal
  9. Performer
  10. Tastemaker
  11. Explorer
  12. Advocate

If you’d like to take the quiz yourself to see what you are, you can do so by clicking here.

Benefits of Knowing Your Archetypes

So what are the benefits of knowing your Archetypes?

Well, one of the primary benefits of these types of systems is that they increase our understanding of ourselves.

Most of the people we have in our lives, at home, at work, in our businesses, etc. are all different personality types and different archetypes, and a lot of the conflict in our lives comes from not understand those differences.

For example, as a visionary one of my strengths is the ability to see solutions to challenges that other people haven’t even imagined yet.

I have the ability to study a large variety of different topics and to see patterns in all of these things and imagine ideas, systems and processes out of “thin air” and into existence.

When I worked in the corporate world, having that strength made it easier for me to do my job as the Chief Technology Office of a publicly traded company.

Today I use that same skill to make money from home running my businesses.

The thing is though, that not everyone has the same Archetype profile as me, so if I am not aware of this I can end up getting frustrated with people when they don’t see the same things as I do.

In fact when I look at my past and I see various different interpersonal conflicts I’ve had with different people, it becomes abundantly clear that they had very DIFFERENT archetype profiles from mine.

They couldn’t understand how I could possibly think the way I do, and I couldn’t understand how they could think the way they did.

By getting clear about YOUR archetype profile and the profiles of the people around you, you can get a better understanding of them and avoid unnecessary conflicts, and strengthen your relationships.

There is no right and wrong.  No profile is better than another one.  They’re just different.

The other benefit of knowing your profile is that you can get a better understanding of your strengths and your weaknesses.

By knowing what your strengths are, you can organize your life and your business life to be more centered around those strengths – and team up with someone or outsource those areas that you’re weak in.

I highly recommend taking this quiz and getting to know your Archetype profile.

Head on over to Archetypes.com now and take the free quiz.

Then leave a comment below and share what percentages you got for your 3 primary Archetypes.

Do You Use Tools to Make Money Online or Are You The Tool?

March 4, 2015 by Paul 4 Comments

Today I decided to shoot a video where I share my perspective on using tools to make money online.

Here’s the video:

So what tools do I recommend for making money online?

There are basically three main tools I recommend every start with:

  1. Kalatu Brand Station – For blogging and branding yourself.  Your “home” on the Internet.
  2. AWeber Email Services – For all your email marketing needs.
  3. ClickFunnels – For creating customized landing pages, opt-in pages, sales pages and membership sites.

Those are the first three tools I would start with.

If you can’t afford all three, I would start with Kalatu and then add-on AWeber later on and finally ClickFunnels when you’re ready for that step.

How to Add a Lower Third Name Banner to a Google Hangout

February 26, 2015 by Paul 2 Comments

If you’ve ever been on a Google Hangout, you may have noticed that some people have a cool looking name and title below their video.

The industry term for a banner overlay like that is called a “Lower Third”.

It’s actually really easy to setup a “Lower Third” name / title banner on your Google hangouts.

I recorded a short video showing just how simple it is.

The cool thing too is that you can setup different presets for your Lower Third so depending on what kind of hangout you’re on, you can switch between them.

For example you could have one preset that says your name and title below that, and another one could have your name and website URL, etc.

If you found this video useful, don’t forget to click the “Like” button on YouTube so that I know you liked it.
